Engaging young people and students in their community is often a challenge. Being a GIS professional in a community creates opportunity to provide unique STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) experiences for youth engagement. This workshop will provide participants with an arsenal of GIS teaching activities for students and youth, organized by age (elementary to high school). These activities are ideal for hosting STEM events, engaging with Tribal schools, hosting GIS day events at your organization, and providing an overall additional learning element for Tribal youth to participate in community planning, decision making, and cultural engagement.
